The Joys Of Christmas
Saturday November 30, 2013  7:30pm
Theatre

The Digby area Theatre Society (DATS) will present The Joys of Christmas, a celebration of, and tribute to Christmases and Christmas concerts past at the Annapolis Basin Theatre, Cornwallis. Over 14 years, DATS Christmas productions have been extraordinarily popular for the sold-out crowds; The Joys of Christmas will only further this popularity.

A nostalgic look at Christmas in the mid 1950s, The Joys of Christmas includes a series of characters who take turns describing a particular Christmas memory, ones that fill their hearts with joy, warmth, and good-natured humour at this most special season of the year; the audience's hearts will be filled in the same way.

The evening also includes The Christmas Stranger, a new play about a close-knit family in a coastal fishing village during a Christmas Eve blizzard in 1955. Papa and Mama face challenges as they try to prepare a good Christmas for their three children. An unexpected visit by a special stranger guides the family to an understanding of the real meaning of Christmas, and magically helps make this the best Christmas of all. DATS audiences will laugh and be moved by the family and their experiences, and by the antics of The Christmas Stranger.

A special choir, the ABC Chorus, will perform throughout The Joys of Christmas and will close the evening by giving the audience an opportunity to join in singing one of the great classics of the Christmas repertoire.
