Lecture / Seminar
Andrew Nikiforuk, the Calgary-based award winning nonfiction journalist, will speak on his new book "Tar Sands: Dirty Oil and the Future of a Continent”.
The book explores how the Tar Sands has profoundly changed Canada's economy, politics and labour patterns, how it fits into Canada's national energy strategy, and how the Tar Sands is contributing to climate change. He argues that Maritimers stabilize our economy by decreasing our dependence on foreign oil and coal; buying locally grown foods; using solar, wind & geothermal power sources; and by keeping Maritime energy dollars working in the Maritimes.
A book signing and meet and greet will follow.
