In commemoration of African Heritage Month, Dr. Amani Whitfield will give the Fourth Read Family Lecture in Planter Studies entitled, "Slavery in Nova Scotia before 1783--Planter Slavery in Context." Dr. Whitfield is a well-known expert in the history of the Black population in the Maritime colonies and will discuss slavery in the region before 1783 in the wider context of the British/French Atlantic world.
All Welcome. Refreshments to follow.

This event is presented with the additional support of the Mark Curry Chair in History, the Lumsden Chair in Religious Studies and Karolyn Smardz Frost, Harrison McCain Visiting Professor.
