To say that you are an autonomous entity, can only be implied when there is a system or force in place that you're operating outside of, or in many ways alongside (one foot in, one foot out sort of thing). The artist takes up a particular role in this regard, both as practice and process. Using tools like bandcamp, gov' and private grants, various media/design tools, and community events like this one are all results of autonomy, but within need to participate alongside the systemic in order to reach self-reliance, to be self-governed.
Participating visual artists and musicians take up the poetically political in this art forum, to create a space for critical dialogue with the community through art production. While the event operates on a pay, trade, barter basis, its monetary goal is to fundraise for artist Mallory Amirault's tuition expenses to continue her studies at Emily Carr University.
Come meet and talk with all the artists and find out that being informed is synonymous with being inspired.
