Talk Life Community Presents Bruce Beaton: Raising Great Kids through Sport

“When children take the skills that they learn through sport, it is tremendous what they can accomplish in the world,” says Bruce Beaton in his book Little Athletes, Big Leaders.

Following retirement as a CFL football player, Beaton wrote about his experiences and in particular about sport leadership and training. When he became a parent, Beaton noticed fellow parents expressing their desire to raise great, confident children. Drawing upon his own experiences, Beaton realized that many of the principles he had learned as a successful athlete could be applied to child rearing. Thus was born the idea that led to the book Little Athletes, Big Leaders.

In his talk, Beaton will be speaking about raising resilient, successful future leaders by teaching grit and learned optimism through youth sport. These lessons are applicable to all parents, whether your child is in sports or not.

Beaton is a local real estate investor who won two Grey Cup championships in the CFL, was a seven time all star and was named to the Edmonton Eskimos All Century team. He is the author of Little Athletes Big Leaders, The Leadership Through Sport Winners Manual, as well as audio CD’s such as How The Greatest Coaches Lead, How Stars are Made, Sport Leadership Volumes 1 and 2, and Maximizing Talent.

This event is open to all parents, grandparents and coaches!

Proceeds will be donated to Chrysalis House. To reserve your space, please email Vanessa at [email protected] or contact Lia at 902-680-5331, or Laura at 902-678-1562.

Talk Life Community (TLC) was created by three friends who realized how many accomplished women they knew, all with important stories and life lessons to share. The group consists of Lia Glover, Port Williams, and Vanessa Gennette and Laura Churchill Duke, Kentville.

Talk Life Community is a roaming talk cafe for women. It focuses on the joys and challenges of women of all ages and experiences. Our goal is to share stories from those who have been there, done that. With so many creative, courageous, intelligent and accomplished women in the Valley to tell their stories, we believe you will leave a Talk Life Community event, better than you arrived.
