The Wolfville Farmers’ Market invites you to its annual Tastes of the Valley event on Saturday, July 23, 8:30am-1pm. Tastes of the Valley is a culinary celebration of fresh local food where chefs from local restaurants join regular Market vendors and use Valley-farmed ingredients to make $4 taste concoctions to tantalize your taste buds.
“Come hungry! This is an event that showcases the Valley in its culinary splendor,” said Kelly Marie Redcliffe, Manager, Wolfville Farmers' Market. “We are in a culinary hub with impressively talented farmers and chefs. When they all work together...it’s marvelous. If you didn’t know it already, buying local is not only possible, it’s very, very tasty!”
Restaurants that focus on using fresh, local ingredients on their menus have been invited to join the regular Saturday vendors at the Market for this special event. The menu is curated by Market staff, ensuring that each dish uses ingredients sourced from farms and producers in the Annapolis Valley.
“The tastes are a reflection of local and seasonal ingredients sourced directly from farmers and then creatively prepared by this Region’s talented local Chefs and Market Vendors. The event truly embraces the idea of Farm to Table: Sustainable food nurtured by growers, picked at the peak of ripeness and then presented in small flavoured packed sample sizes” says event coordinator Angela Melanson.
$4 Taste Tickets are available for purchase at an outdoor Ticket Booth located before the Market Entrance and at an indoor Ticket Booth location as you enter the Market where menus, event maps and ballots can also be picked up. Those who vote for their favourite chef by submitting a ballot can win $100 towards a meal from their favourite chef.
The chefs have an opportunity to win one of three awards: The People’s Pick and the The Panel’s Pick for both a sweet and a savoury taste. Vote for your favourite and the chef that wins the most votes is the People’s Pick. A panel of judges will vote for the Panel’s Pick. Both awards will be given out a 12:30 pm.Participating Market Vendors:
