Come join us for a weekend of family friendly naturalists workshops and field trips!
Date: Friday, May 27 to Sunday, May 29
We will have a Friday evening Wine & Cheese reception (youth welcome) in the beautiful Garden Room of the beautiful KC Irving Centre and enjoy morning workshops on Saturday and Sunday. Youth workshops will include an investigation of insects and bees, exploration of the mudflats, learning about raptors and owls and a tour of the Acadian Forest at the Irving Botanical Gardens. Families can then participate in a variety of field trips each afternoon and join in on early morning bird walks and evening star gazing.
Visit the YNC website for a schedule of events for the Youth Program. www yncns.ca
Adult schedule of events and registration forms can be obtained at Nature Nova Scotia website www.naturens.ca/
There will be dorms available on Acadia’s campus and there are also several local hotels and B&Bs in the area. Food will have buffet-style, all-you-can-eat breakfasts and lunches will be served at Wheelock Dining Hall on the Acadia Campus (meal only packages will be available) but on Saturday evening our banquet dinner will be part of the May Flavours Dinner and Auction at Acadia that features local foods (hors d’oeuvres to desserts) prepared by chefs from various local restaurants, along with Valley wines and beer (coupon for one alcoholic drink included; bar service available). There is a silent auction throughout the dinner, and also a live auction at the end of the meal.
NOTE: Nature Nova Scotia has offered a $50 bursary for youth ages 8-12 (to cover meal package) for families getting an Accommodation/Meal Package at Acadia University (see registration form for information on the package)
