Rhythm Instrument Making (10am, Festival Tent)
Volunteers from the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts will provide materials and instruction for making your own rhythm instrument to jingle, pound, and shake during our Fresh Beats Rhythm Parade.
Harmony Singing (10am, Festival Theatre)
Let your vocal chords begin the day with a wonderful workout. Join Sahara|Kamila, Kim Dunn, and Scott Cook for a singing experience you're sure to enjoy.
Puppetry & Costume Play with Monika Wildemann and Wee Giant Theatre (10:30am, Festival Theatre Lobby)
Drop in anytime between 10:30am and 11:15am and experience the thrill of artistic collaboration as we learn how to bring Wee Giant Theatre's enormous puppets to life. Give your child the time they need to explore costumes, masks, wings, and crowns to create their individual character for the parade.
Kids PLAY Music! (10:30am, Wolfville Baptist Church)
This is a super fun session designed for children under 7 years (and their adults) in which they will sing, dance, and play rhythm instruments with Marilyn Manzer and Shannon Lynch.
Drum Circle with Djugdjug Ensemble (11am, Festival Tent)
Bring your own hand drum and a chair and join the circle. Some drums will be provided.
All-Ages Rhythm & Percussion (11:35am, Festival Tent)
Bring your own drum or a rhythm instrument that you've just made and join us for a short workshop that will help you prepare for the Rhythm Parade which begins at noon!
Puppet Show with Maritime Marionettes (12:15pm, Festival Tent, 40 mins.)
The whole family will be entranced as you watch these amazing marionettes come to life in “The Lonely Leprechaun”.
Deep Roots Open Mic (2pm, Festival Tent)
Hosted by Scotty Marsters. Sign-up begins at 11am.
PARADE - The Fresh Beats Rhythm Parade!
Our Saturday noon-time parade is the heart of the Deep Roots Music Festival. Whether you've participated in one of our morning workshops or not, please join our Fresh Beats Rhythm Parade. Gather with us at the Festival Tent at Clock Park at 11:35am. Perhaps you'll be holding a rhythm instrument you've just created, or donning a Wee Giant costume you've just borrowed! At NOON the parade, in all its glorious noise and colour, will begin.
