Lecture / Seminar Meeting / Club

Doors open at 6:30pm
Event in Room: A106
Drip, drop! One of the most beautiful, yet random and frustrating elements of macro photography is capturing water drops and splash photography (water drop collisions). Mastering the timing, focus, lighting and colour can take hours, and is rarely reproducible. While there are electronic systems on the market that can take much of the guess work out of water drop photography, many are much too expensive for the hobby photographer.
Rodger Evans joins us to demonstrate a relatively inexpensive trigger system ($200) that can be used for water droplet photography, time lapse, long exposures, and more.
Rodger will demonstrate how to set up the Pluto system on a Nikon D7200, how to capture single drops, and how to capture colliding drops. He will demonstrate how various liquids (water, water/glycerine mix, and milk) affect drop shape, collision and capture. He will also add liquid food colouring, use coloured flash gels, and various backgrounds to demonstrate how to add depth and interest to water drops. Images will be live captured to Lightroom and transmitted live to the screen. If time allows, post-processing of images will also be covered in Lightroom and Photoshop.
In addition, Michelle Coleman will offer a member showcase, and we’ll review our monthly photo challenge.
