Kids come together for a fun-filled, kindness-focused two hour event. In the first 10-15 minutes, Travelling Kindness Rocks creator, Ginger, shares the story of how Travelling Kindness Rocks began in her grade 5/6 elementary classroom and has spread throughout the world. Kids will then learn to paint their own, unique dot mandala, painting their creation on a rock. As the first layer of dots is drying, kids will think about who they want to gift their kindness rock to and begin to write a letter to their rock's recipient. Just like every Travelling Kindness Rock that is sent around the world, this letter is to accompany the rocks the kids finish in the workshop.
By the end of the two hours, kids will have completed at least one dot mandala rock and have started their accompanying letter. The letter may need to be completed at home.
Following the event, kids are invited, with guardian assistance and permission, to post stories and/or photos of their kindness rock as they gift it with their accompanying letter to an individual. There should be a whole bunch of warm, fuzzy feelings floating around Kings County at this point!
The Instructor
Ginger is the creator of Travelling Kindness Rocks and an experienced educator. She holds a Bachelor and Masters of Education from Acadia Unviersity and is currently on a leave of absence from her teaching position so the work of Travelling Kindness Rocks can expand. Ginger developed the concept of Travelling Kindness Rocks, her hand-made dotting tools, dotting techniques, pattern process, and programs through inspiration and exploration.
For children ages 6 and up
