After the string of storms we’ve had in the past month, many were left without power or left stranded at home until roads became passable. Aside from these recent weather events, chances are that most of us have experienced some pretty damaging storms, a personal disaster like a fire or flood at home, or some larger scale event.

In Canada, the aim is that all residents can be safe and well without outside-the-home assistance for 72 hours. Are you ready for that?

In this presentation, Anna Kiefte will discuss how you can begin to prepare a personal emergency plan and kit for yourself and your family, and the Canadian Red Cross’s role in disaster management and response.

Anna is a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross, serving as team leader for the Disaster Management Team in Kings County, and also as a Training Facilitator and a member of the National Disaster Management Evaluation Team. Anna is a full time Instructor who teaches Physics at Acadia, and serves as the faculty liaison on Acadia’s Emergency Response Team.
