The penultimate event at the 10th Raddall Symposium on Atlantic Literature, the reading by Sue Goyette and George Elliott Clarke.
Poet and Novelist Sue Goyette “believes that each individual has a relationship with the vast and ancient wildernesses we often neglect — oceans, forests, plains and prairies — and these provide some of the major themes she explores in her poetry. A nominee for the Governor General’s Award in Poetry, winner of the Pat Lowther Award and the Atlantic Poetry Prize, and finalist for the Griffin Poetry Prize, Sue Goyette is among the most distinctive voices in contemporary Canadian poetry” (from Canadian Encyclopedia).
George Elliott Clarke is Parliamentary Poet Laureate of Canada, Toronto Poet Laureate, and author of numerous works. His many honours include the Governor-General's Award for Poetry, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Achievement Award, the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Fellowship Prize, and appointment to the Order of Nova Scotia. Clarke is also the E.J. Pratt Professor of Canadian Literature at the University of Toronto (from Canadian Poetry Online).
