Restoring the Acadian Forest - Engaging community to increase biodiversity one tree at a time

Join us for this free public talk in celebration of Acadia University's Sustainability week with Gary Schneider, Project Manager of Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project.

Gary co-chairs the Environmental Coalition of Prince Edward Island and started the Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project in 1991. The project demonstrates ecologically-sound forest management and restoration, centred around environmental education, conservation of rare plants and bringing back the native Acadian forest. Macphail Woods also manages 2,000 acres of Public Forest Land for the provincial government.

Gary is very passionate about his work and his love of the forest is infectious. You will leave with a greater understanding of why it’s so important to cherish and preserve the Acadian Forest and hear new ideas on how to engage communities in conservation work.
