Nadine Landry, Stephen "Sammy" Lind and Annie Lou are three stellar musicians from Parksville BC, Oregon and the Gaspé, who play Old-time and Cajun music and cook a deliciously authentic cajun gumbo. Come enjoy all their talents!
Andouille sausage for the gumbo provided by the Peasant's Pantry, chicken and vegetables from around the corner at Longspell Point Farm. Plenty of spice will be provided - on the side - for those who can handle the heat!
BYOB, and dancing shoes. They will cook, then sing for you while you digest and get ready to dance! Annie Lou will guide you through the steps while Sammy and Nadine, Kim Barlow and members of Ida Red form a stellar pick-up band to play the tunes.
Supper at 6:00 pm, and music at 7:00 pm, square dance 8 -10pm.
More about square dancing:
Playing old time music leads one naturally to square dancing – a lot of old time tunes are dance tunes – and square dancing is one of the best times ever had. Dancers don’t have to know how to dance – the caller tells you everything you need to know – so first timers can dive right on in with more experienced dancers, which makes for wonderful community event. A fine caller of southern style square dances, Anne Louise has called at music camps, festivals, weddings, parties, and other community functions.
