This year NKEC is proud to present an original production called “Succession”, an original play that was written by our NKEC production cast. Each cast member contributed to the overall vision of the show, as the show was inspired by the moments in our lives when we felt we needed to confront challenges with resilience.
Anastasia Arthur is a young adult who finds herself recovering in the hospital after a suicide attempt. Through a succession of dreams during her first evening stay at the hospital, Anastasia becomes immersed into an altered reality where she meets many characters who, like her, are experiencing emotional turmoil yet share with her promises of hope. Through her dream journey she receives emotional healing, which renews her purpose and desire to live.
We believe our play is a commentary on the resilience of those who suffer with mental health challenges. We want to show the importance of loving and supporting anyone who is experiencing personal struggles in their lives and the importance of being compassionate to one another.
