On Sunday, April 11, 2010 Ross Creek is celebrating both National Poetry Month and George Canning’s 240th Birthday with a spring season Open House. Who is George Canning, and why is there a village in rural Nova Scotia named in his honour? Find out as we celebrate local heritage, the past and present through carefully crafted words, how they relate to visual arts, music and the outdoors.
Performing poets include Halifax singer-songwriter Tanya Davis and Martine Jacquot with special family guests!
In addition to activities and performances, Ross Creek’s 2010 group exhibition opens in the main gallery featuring diverse takes on the theme Faith by Canadian visual artists Alisdair MacRae, Jamie Campbell, Barbara Hobot and Patrick Cull.
People of all ages are welcome to join the staff at Ross Creek from 12:00-4:30 p.m. to create artwork, enjoy bake-sale treats and explore the Ross Creek property.
