Andrea Ramolo has been praised for her unabashed approach to songwriting, her commitment to storytelling, and the raw, honest, and captivating presence she brings to her live performance. October 2008 marked the release of Andrea's debut album "Thank You For The Ride" produced by Canadian drummer (Thornley, Serena Ryder, Hawksley Workman) and producer Eric Paul. Shortly after the release, Andrea completed two east coast tours, an Ontario tour, and a showcase in Nashville, Tennessee. She was featured at Halifax’s ‘In the Dead of Winter’ music festival in January, and has a 4 month upcoming cross-Canada tour, hitting over 50 venues nation wide, including the Sunstroke Festival in Whitehorse, the Saskatoon Berry Fest in July, and South Country Fair.
In 2008, Andrea took home 3 Toronto Exclusive Independent Magazine Music Awards for Best Folk Album, Best Female Folk Artist, and Best Blues Song. In 2004, Andrea was cast in Disney’s made-for-TV movie Once Upon a Mattress, starring Carol Burnett and Tracy Ullman. She recorded two songs for the movie’s soundtrack at the CBC in Vancouver. She has shared the stage with Colin Linden, and bilingual folk artist and good friend Cindy Doire, among others; has been a part of the demo recordings for Canadian rock’n’roll group The Trews; and has also lent her voice to a handful of recordings for Martha and the Muffins, the Strip, Oh No Forest Fires, and folk singer/songwriter John Riven.
Press Quotes:
"Ramolo has an earthy voice that’s sensual and fiery and full of life. She can project the vocal gravity of Stevie Nicks, the homey comfort of Emmylou Harris or the pure raw energy of Janis Joplin, often within the same song. As a songwriter Ramolo is a first-class talent, using the broad brush of lyrical narrative to infuse characters, places and events with vibrant panache. "

"Andrea Ramolo has a voice like Lucinda Williams, like Emmy Lou Harris, like Martha Wainwright...a voice that sounds like it knows the answers to life's mysteries...the kind of voice Roy Orbison would have written songs about...her songs...are so powerful they'll break your heart. Thank You For The Ride is one of those songs, like Octoberman's Run From Safety or Jason Collett's Hangover Days or Elliott Broods' The Bridge..."
