The classic story by Charles Sheldon. When a homeless man interrupts the comfortable routine of First Church of Raymond, life will never be the same for the apathetic congregation. Henry Maxwell, Rachel Winslow, Virginia Page and Alex Powers are thrust into a journey of discovering what life is like beyond “Christianity as usual.” But as they find themselves opposed by family strife, church politics, and scorned lovers, will they be able to keep their commitment, or will they be dragged back into fruitless lives?
Dove Movie Review
There is a price to pay for faith but it is ultimately worth it. That is the message of this movie. Various characters deal with difficult circumstances based on their decision to do what Jesus would do. A man named Alex Powers faces an angry daughter named Celia and an angry wife when he changes and becomes strong in his faith and begins to talk about a summer missions’ trip. A young singing talent named Rachel turns down a recording contract to do God’s will in her home town of Raymond and her faith is mocked by a young upstart personality on the internet. The young man states, “Jesus is killing the arts”. Virginia Page stands up to her grandmother when the grandmother has a narrow outlook about Virginia helping a pregnant woman named Loreen who has an abusive boyfriend. And Pastor Henry Maxwell, who started the whole thing by preaching a sermon about the topic “What Would Jesus Do” deals with an angry church board and a few members of the church. Pastor Henry was inspired when a sick young man wandered into town and asked for help and several Christians turned him down. The young man confronted them at church and left Pastor Henry a changed man.
