VANSDA is excited to announce the launch of “Legacy Series” Coffee’ (a unique medium roast specialty coffee). This launch introduces a new and innovative avenue to increase the awareness of African Canadian / Nova Scotian history throughout Scotia and beyond. In a partnership with Just Us! Coffee Roasters Co-op promoting various historic persons of African descent, important to not only Nova Scotia but also Canada.

The first in the Series; VictoriUS! a tribute to William Hall, VC.

VANSDA believes the series will enable the organization which has operated for 2 decades, continued development of resources in support of the African Nova Scotian community. This new initiative is part of a multi-phase anti-racism and education direction that has been initiated aimed at assisting the development of welcoming workplaces, communities and decreasing the impact of racism endured by black and brown persons throughout the province. ‘Our goal is to bring history into homes and offices in a new and unique manner’.

Just Us! Coffee Roasters Co-op founded in 1995 as Canada's first fair trade coffee roaster is a worker co-operative exclusively roasting specialty grade, certified fair trade and organic coffee. They work hard to preserve the integrity of the supply chain, from seed to cup.

“Proud to say we are a company where fairness and transparency aren't just buzzwords, but the lens through which we operate our business”.

This partnership, a first of its kind, looks to combine the best of both organizations. The ‘Legacy Series’ will allow for support of African Nova Scotian interests to be impacted by individuals and companies throughout the province and beyond through its purchase.

With the support of Chartwells Food Services at Acadia University, we are pleased to launch the series and partner with the Black Students Association at Acadia to kickoff African Heritage Month Activities on campus.

The theme of African Heritage Month 2019; “Our History is Your History”

“Legacy Series” Coffee highlights persons that have had an impact in Nova Scotia and Canada.
