Open Arms will be hosting CNOY for the 8th year. The amazing local support for this nation-wide event is an important part of maintaining Open Arms outreach programs (Drop-in centers, Inn From The Cold Emergency Shelter, Rural Food Delivery Program, SAFE House Transitional Housing Program, Furniture Bank and more). Goals for 2020 include expanding our Winter shelter program, expanding outreach into western Kings County, to develop true affordable housing and to continue building even stronger relationships and collaboration within the community. In spite of being a smaller host community, the Annapolis Valley WALK has consistently been one of the top locations in Canada each year.

Coldest Night Of the Year requires that a Team Captain recruit and motivate participants from their school, work/office, church, business, service club, group of friends or whatever group you can think of to walk and fundraise for a great cause. Online registration will open on or before December 1st: coldestnightoftheyear.org/location/annapolisvalley

The Coldest Night of the Year is a non-competitive 5km/10km winter walk fundraiser that supports Canadian charities who serve people who are hungry, homeless, and hurting in cities across Canada.
• CNOY allows participants the opportunity to experience a hint of the challenges faced by the homeless during a cold Canadian night in the dead of winter, while raising money for a local ‘homeless’ mission or shelter they know - in this case, Open Arms / Inn From The Cold.
• Event day registration opens at 2:30 pm and walkers are sent off at 5:00 pm, returning an hour or two later depending on distance and speed at which they walk. Our location is the Kentville Fire Hall.
• Money is raised as registered teams of walkers participate in a well organized event after having fundraised on behalf of Open Arms. Teams can be any size, but typically range from 5-15 people.
• We are pursuing 60 Team Captains to lead 500 participants in support of a local charity that is entirely community supported.

If you are interested in forming a team for this event again or for the first time, follow the online instructions any time after December 1st, 2019. Join more than 500 people who will be supporting positive change by raising funds and walking for Open Arms. Every year we have teams sign on as late as the week before the event, but there are obvious advantages to registering earlier.
GOOD FOR BUSINESS: This is a great group activity and can be a fantastic way to promote your respective business or organization. There is also a great opportunity for corporate sponsorship.
