THE STRANGE VALENTINES. David Farrell is an accomplished guitarist previously part of the Australian rock circuit, touring and opening for such major acts as INXS and Canned Heat. Janet Mills was born into Nova Scotia kitchen parties and plays mandolin and Irish bouzouki. The two, now based in Saskatchewan, teamed up for a new shade of genre on the folk/rock colour wheel. Their strong melodies, soulful stories, quirky humour, and rich harmonies have been described as if the Kinks jammed with Fleetwood Mac using only acoustic instruments in a folksy type backdrop. Both members share lead and harmony vocals. David’s warm, engaging tones might make you think of Tom Petty or Bryan Adams; Janet has a haunting quality somewhere between Sarah McLaughlin and Karen Carpenter. Together their songs tell stories of personal struggle and nostalgia transporting the listener along with them. Currently on tour promoting their sixth album and we are happy to be part of it!
