This workshop will provide participants information and instruction on how to create effective cover letters to be used during a job search. They will learn strategies to help them understand what should be included in a cover letter in order for it to complement but not duplicate what is included in their resume.
Additionally participants will obtain information and instruction on how to create an effective resume.
* Participants will become aware of the different types of resumes and their benefits (chronological, functional, and combination); they will be able to identify which resume type will be most effective for their job search
* Participants will become aware of what should and should not be included in a resume.
* Participants will gain an increased understanding of the effectiveness of creating and using "skills statements."
* Participants will be introduced to effective techniques to handle resume writing challenges (e.g. gaps in work history, career changes etc)
* Participants will be better informed regarding the most appropriate way to submit their resume
