Our coolest season at Ross Creek offers clean air, the dazzling splendour of light and snow, and a new way to experience nature.
With the guidance and support of our environmental educator (Ms.) Jamie MacLean, women from 16-85 will learn basic winter survival skills focusing on fire-making, shelter-building and winter navigation.Women will build confidence and skills in the outdoors, while making new friends, and incredible memories. The weekend will be challenging and a whole lot of fun!
Program Highlights:
Snowshoeing/Hiking
Focus on winter skills
Group experience
Night sky observations
Natural history explorations
So much fun!
Itineraries are subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control including weather and terrain conditions.
Sample Itinerary:
Day One
6:00pm Check in
6:30pm Dinner at the centre
7:30pm Group Meeting - Gear check, introduction to program
Day Two
7:30am Breakfast
8:30am Hike / snowshoe, fire skills,
12:00pm Fireside lunch
1:00pm Afternoon skill building and exploration
6:00pm Dinner
7:00pm Winter night sky program
Day Three
7:30am Breakfast
8:30am Hike/Snowshoe and program
12:00pm. Lunch on the trail
2:30pm Return to Centre for hot showers
3:30pm Wrap up and goodbyes
Arrival is at 6 pm on Friday, and departure is at 4 pm on Sunday.
All meals are included. Participants will stay in our the farmhouse or heated cabins, weather is closely monitored and activities are adjusted based on current weather conditions.
Mountain Equipment Co-op rents camping gear if needed.
