Who is the Sweet Water Maiden? Sismoqnapui Skwe’j was a Young Mi’kmaq Maiden who was the first to discover and boil sismoqnapui/maple sap in Mi’kma’ki/Maritimes. Storyteller and author Mary Louise Bernard will read her book in Mi’kmaq and English. The story brings awareness of the Mi’kmaq Culture and the gift that we received from Mother Earth, and helps us recognize the importance of the natural environment and especially to the trees.
Ages 5 and up welcome. Registration required. Ages 12+ will be required to show Proof of vaccination in order to attend this program.
