Practical ideas, suggestions, and tips from a Master Gardener for covering traditional lawns with native plants that help the butterflies, bees, and other essential insects thrive.

Carolyn Green has been gardening for over 30 years and recently became certified as a Master Gardener with the Atlantic Master Gardeners Association. Carolyn is entering her third year as Chair of the Butterflyway Project, A David Suzuki Foundation national campaign adopted by the local Blomidon Naturalists Society. This past year she completed coursework with the Pollinator Partnership to become certified as a Pollinator Steward. Carolyn’s own garden, started when she moved to the Valley 11 years ago, has been certified as a Wildlife-friendly Habitat by the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
