Music Community
info@musicincommunities.com
First in a series of three shows at the new venue in Canning presented by Music In Communities:
Scottish guitarist and singer Alasdair Roberts will bring traditional and original songs with Mairi Morrison and Pete Johnson, while in NS recording versions of Scottish folk songs collected by archivist Helen Creighton. Roberts hails from Scottish folk lineage, as the son of former folk guitarist (and musical partner of Dougie MacLean) Alan Roberts. Alisdair Roberts is known for his frequent collaborations with other musicians and writers, as well as for being a member of the folk supergroup The Furrow Collective. He has also collaborated with Will Oldham (aka Bonnie "Prince" Billie), and released albums on the US Drag Records label.
This is the first official MIC event in the Ross Creek Annex, so we're celebrating Canning with a couple of locals to start things off. Kim Barlow doesn't perform much lately, as she's putting more energy into running Music In Communities. This is a chance to hear some of her secret new songs, and some collaborating with Chris Robison, one of the best eccentric songwriters around.
