Music Wheelchair Accessible Family Friendly Community
info@musicincommunities.com
For Father’s Day, we are launching the first of a series of lunchtime matinees! We are really excited to offer great music in a family-friendly setting. Bring your kids, and stay for none other than Jim Bryson, possibly the sweetest, Dad-est indie songster in Canada. Benj Rowland shares the bill, coming from Peterborough with songs from his Joel Plaskett-produced album "Community Garden".
UPDATE: Lunch will be included in the ticket price!
- with a vegetarian and gluten-free option, and we’ll have toys and some teenagers to distract your kids downstairs, so if they get squirmy you can still listen to the music. Happy Father's Day! Please RSVP if you want to have lunch with us so we know how much food to make. Email info@musicincommunities.com and pay ahead by e-transfer, or cash or card at the event.
Jim Bryson is a National Folk Award nominated Canadian Singer-Songwriter and Record Maker. He has released a number of recordings in all kinds of popular formats and in places all over the map. His most recent release is 2022’s “Country Wifi”: a hushed pile of beautiful whispers and gently considered lyrical ruminations. In Jim’s former lives, he traveled extensively as a side player for artists such as Kathleen Edwards, The Weakerthans and The Tragically Hip. Jim lives with his partner and children in his old family homestead in the once quaint Stittsville, Ontario.

Benj Rowland makes many left turns while still creating beautiful folk melodies on Community Garden. Whether he backs himself with banjo or accordion, Rowland can be wry in one song and heart-on-sleeve passionate the next. Much like a community garden in the real world, Rowland’s Community Garden is full of characters you won’t interact with on a daily basis but are full of stories you’ve never heard.
