Join artist and photographer Huguette Despault May at the magnificent 32 acre rural MareGold Retreat Centre in the village of Victoria Beach, Nova Scotia, (maregold.com) for an overview and introduction into the wondrous world and challenges of close-up insect and botanical photography. Covered will be cameras, lenses and attachments, camera settings, uses and capabilities of newer phone cameras, and assembling a field kit. Additional topics will include practical field techniques, insect behaviour and working ethics. Woven throughout will be considerations of aesthetics, focussing especially on properties of light, point-of-view, and overall composition. Explore the vibrant world of close-up, where field, forest & pond beckon only a short drive from Annapolis Royal!
