Join us in the Artists Landing Art Gallery for an intimate performance by Pillow Fite + Piner.

Pillow Fite is an emerging queer alt-folk duo from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Pairing tender, heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics with catchy alt-rock instrumentals and folky ballads, the genre lines get blurred in a way that keeps the project dynamic and binge-worthy while giving listeners all of the feels. Pillow Fite consists of singer-songwriter Art Ross (they/them) and guitarist Aaron Green (he/him). As a trans non-binary fronted band, Pillow Fite strive to represent queer experiences both on and off stage, and work hard to perform in safe and inclusive spaces.

Piner is a singer-songwriter based in Kingston, Ontario, and Antigonish, Nova Scotia. At heart, she is an old soul. Piner grew up in a community rife with musicians who modeled the idea of putting thoughts to song and singing to anyone who cared to listen. One of Piner’s inspirations is her childhood neighbourhood. Growing up in the environs of Skeleton Park in Kingston, Ontario, Piner experienced the wealth that comes from community, while witnessing the reality of struggle. Piner writes songs of empathy and understanding while stepping into the stories of others. Piner hopes that her songs will allow listeners to connect with the complexities of the greater human experience.

Her newest album "A Netherworld" features East Coast and Kingstonian musical collaborations. 'A Netherworld' is her musical project of hope during fractured and challenging times. She creates a new world through her songs and action-based initiatives. She imagines another world filled with community, connection, care, and change.
