All are invited to this dramatic performance on the historical journeys of Nova Scotians of African descent.
Black Journey, written and directed by David Woods, tells the story of African Nova Scotian experience in three Voices. As each Voice presents his/her story, we see dramatizations of the experiences they describe: slavery, the arrivals of African peoples from the United States and Caribbean, the story of the African settlers of Fortress Louisbourg, the lives of African Nova Scotian heroes Mathieu De Costa, Reverend Richard Preston, Portia White, Viola Desmond and others. Music and dance is interwoven throughout the performance.
This performance of Black Journey is sponsored by Annapolis Valley Initiatives in Diversity (AVID) with support from the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board.
