International Volunteer Day (IVD), and in recognition, KVRC will host a Drop In, Meet & Greet at our Centre in the County Fair Mall. The day is a global celebration of volunteering – spotlighting efforts at the local, national, and international level. Volunteers are leading social change around the world, and this year’s United Nations theme is - The power of collective action: If everyone did.
Our event is open to everyone interested in volunteerism; we would especially welcome newcomers to our area seeking volunteer opportunities to help learn more about their local community. Activities begin at 11 am with remarks from the NS Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. We will also hear from volunteers sharing their experiences both locally and away. There will be a demo of volunteerns.ca, our website linking volunteers and non-profits, and we will show our recent video about volunteering in Nova Scotia.
