Flying Squirrel Adventures is offering a 4-day March Break nature play program at our Winter location just outside Wolfville.

Our beloved nature programs allow children to move their bodies, flex their imaginations, build their confidence in the outdoors, and build relationship with themselves, other humans and the natural world.

With low participant to facilitator ratios, we can be attentive to each individual, working with each person's learning edges, helping each child learn and grow from the place they are at. We support healthy risk taking, encourage learning by doing and collective problem solving. We work through conflict with kindness and patience, encouraging emotional expression.

This is primarily an outdoor program and we'll be in nature most of the day. Being winter, we do have access to indoor space for lunch time and afternoon crafting/play activities.

Dates: March 11 - 14 (Mon - Thu), 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
(We will hold Fri March 15 as a weather date).

Participant Numbers: up to 15 children, 3 experienced facilitators.

Our time together each day:
• Circle games and sharing time
• Preparing for our adventure
• Main group activity (e.g. hiking/walking, fire-making, tracking, map & compass, knots & tarps, nature art, etc.). We assess group interests and energy levels each day to decide what activities to undertake.
• Food time to fuel our bodies
• Quiet time - quiet games, stories, crafting (indoors & out, conditions permitting)
• Afternoon explore and activities
We have discounted rates for families and if cost is a barrier, please ask us about partial bursaries. We strive to make outdoor play and learning financially accessible. Contact: valleyflyingsquirrels@gmail.com

As nature play facilitators, we can attest to the idea of an innate nature play instinct. Most children settle into exploratory play in nature within a few hours, even if they have never done it before. And from there, they grow in a variety of capacities in leaps and bounds over the course of only a few sessions. Nature play is simple, and yet vital to the development of healthy people, a healthy society and a healthy planet.
