Meet the Artists:

With over 15 years experience of teaching art to students of all ages, a Bachelor of Education and artistic training at Acadia University, Colleen Gerrits has a passion for sharing her wealth of artistic knowledge with others. Colleen teaches in person classes in her studio, online workshops, as well as at the Booker School in Port Williams. Her art primarily consists of acrylic painting, however she often incorporates mixed media elements into her work, exploring abstract mark making while taking inspiration from nature and her surroundings. As a practicing artist, Colleen’s work is displayed in the Valley and has sold both locally and internationally.

Colleen will be leading a workshop in mixed media art. From painting, to drawing and everything in-between, Colleen will provide guidance and demonstration in how she applies the concept of mixed media exploration to her work. Through the use of gesso, pencils, paint and more, participants will learn about the process and create a finished piece to keep.

With a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Education, Johanna Rosolen has over 16 years of experience teaching Visual Arts at the high school, middle school, elementary and pre-school level, and over 14 years of providing photography services. She has made it her mission to be able to share her love for creativity by providing art education and offering unique and personal photography services to those in her community. Johanna has had her work published in magazines such as Saltscapes, Explore, Bella Grace and Photo Life, purchased by the Yukon Government and continues to show her work at local venues.

Johanna will be leading a workshop in watercolours and plein air painting. Johanna will introduce the concepts of how one can use gesture sketching and watercolour to create beautiful landscape paintings while on site. Please dress for outside work. An alternative still-life workshop will be offered if the weather is not cooperating.
