Catherine Goulletquer will speak about the wives of Pierre Dugua de Mons and Samuel de Champlain and their contrasts and similarities. One came from the rural, military and Catholic aristocracy, the other from the Parisian and Breton Protestant bourgeoisie. A generation apart, they lived in the shadow of their husbands and never had children. However, at one point, their lives changed and they took charge of their destiny.
