The Art of Nature: Summer Programs at Acadia University
Teen Art Academy
This Academy will explore a variety of approaches to art making inspired from the environment around us. The week-long workshop will be a combination of time spent in the Art Studio, Acadia Art Gallery and Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens with a focus on design principles, drawing and painting. Students will also be introduced to curatorial methods and exhibition design with Laurie Dalton, gallery curator in preparation for a Vernissage of their work in the gallery annex on the last day of the class.
This camp will be facilitated by artist Terry Drahos. Drahos’s approach to art is intuitive and spontaneous. Known primarily for her vibrant paintings, she occasionally works in other media such as sculpture and installation. Her work often examines social identity and perceptions. Drahos has exhibited nationally, and is the recipient of numerous educational grants and awards.
