FAIRY WALK WILL HAPPEN...RAIN or SHINE or WIND. The trail is in the woods so rather protected.
Hosted by the Black Rock Trails Association, this fairy walk continues to delight children of all ages (including those young at heart) and this year, we may even have some unicorns wandering along the trail.
An outdoor event, following the Purple Trail (the shortest trail in our trail system). Find the fairy houses and other whimsical creations in the trees, and along the woodland floor.
Build or add to fairy houses set up along the trail, using the natural materials - twigs, stones, leaves, and bark, etc. provided. If you want, bring materials and/or creations you may have made at home. Add to the enchanted fairyland as you walk the trail. We ask that natural materials be used so that if they are left in the woods, they will go back to the earth.
Come as a fairy, elf, or any other magical creature. Every year, the parade of creativity that shows up delights everyone! We’ve even had mysterious, walking trees show up.
Freewill donation (fund raising event for the trail society)
"The Tradition of Fairy Houses has its roots on a few islands off the coast of Maine. For decades people were inspired to create whimsical houses made from natural things for fairies to visit. It is easy to feel the presence of fairies in the quiet of the woods when the sunbeams float through the sea mist and shine on the mosses and ferns of the wood. Surrounded by nature, her colours, shapes and textures, one is inspired to create little houses with roofs, soft floors, and acorn cups. Perhaps the fairies are hidden between the layers that the woods reveal to us as we create a small gift by leaving a shelter for the little folk."
