Sugar Bush Walk

Join maple syrup producer Chris Hutchinson for a short (1 km) tour of the sugar bush and see what the forest looks like in fall. Afterwards, you have a choice either to go back to Anna’s Maple Cafe for one of their delicious beverages or pastries (bring a lunch if you like), or to join in for a hike in the Chain Lakes Wilderness Area led by Peter Wallace.

Date: Sunday, October 19

Meeting Point: Hutchinson Acres, 3396 Aylesford Rd, Aylesford,

Schedule:

9:45 Arrival at Anna’s Maple Cafe (Hutchinson’s Acres)

10:00 – 10:30 Carpool to the sugar bus

10:30 – 11:30 Chris will take us on a walk and do a show & tell about his operation.

11:30 – noon Drive back to the Cafe for some social time (they sell delicious beverages and pastries!)

OR

11:30 – noon Drive to the start of the afternoon hike (about a 30 minute drive)

noon – 12:30 Lunch time – bring a packed lunch to eat in the forest

12:30 – 2:00 Peter Wallace will lead us on a hike in the proposed Chain Lakes Wilderness Area.

It will be an easy bushwack along an ATV trail through the forest to Upper Chain Lake. Wear orange – it is hunting season!

Remember to pack a lunch if you opt to join in for the afternoon hike. Dress for the weather!
