This month's Youth Open Mic features 15-year-old songwriter Alora Ells, and special guests Pillow Fite! We can't wait for this stacked line-up, plus all the other young talent who show up to play.
All are welcome, and 19-and-under are welcome to sign up to play.
Alora Ells is a rising 15-year-old singer-songwriter from Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley, with deep family roots in Guysborough County—regions rich in storytelling and musical tradition. She began performing young, first finding her voice in church. Inspired by folk’s emotional honesty and country’s narrative style, Alora writes original songs with maturity beyond her years, exploring youth, resilience, love, and family. Known for her heartfelt, confident stage presence, she has gained early recognition in Nova Scotia’s music community and is an emerging East Coast artist to watch.
Pillow Fite first appeared in a glitter bomb of enthusiastic feelings, an acoustic guitar duo given to constant queer longing and occasional full-band outings. Across a handful of singles and their first EP, Flutter, Art Ross (they/them/Pisces) and Aaron Green (he/him/Virgo) combined their respective gifts of reflection and melody for moody, slow-burning indie-folk aimed straight at the heart. The band is slated to release a deluxe edition of their award winning Hard Feelings, Soft Promises in May of 2026, with a brand new album due out in the fall of 2026 to be accompanied by a Canadian tour.
Free or by donation.
