Join the Canta Mara Youth Choirs (formerly Annapolis Valley Honour Choirs) for their spring concert, “A Patch of Light: Times Like These”.
Our theme for the 2025-26 season for the choirs was Kaleidoscope Heart - focusing on celebrating diversity, authenticity, and acceptance. This colourful spring concert will explore these themes with a mix of repertoire from around the world -speaking poignantly about fighting against a changing world that puts a heavy weight on our shoulders, and finding the patches of light that offer hope. It’s music that reflects the mood of the times we’re living through, and that invites audiences to pause, think, and connect with how they’re feeling. The audience will recognize many of the songs from artists Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Bill Withers, Pink, AURORA and yes, even the Foo Fighters!
“More than ever, we know that we need music to get through difficult times,” says Canta Mara Artistic Director Heather Fraser. “It’s been a comfort and an inspiration to work with our choristers on the preparation of this music. I hope audiences will feel the same through the performances.”
The concert will also feature guest musicians Tyler Mcdonald, percussion, and Michael MacPhee, guitar.
This concert will not only showcase these incredible young voices but give us all a chance to reflect on what matters, and celebrate the moments that will continue to lift us up in times like these.
