Trout Lily Walk

Would you like to be a citizen scientist for a morning? Come and join Peter Steiner and Bob Kennedy for a Trout Lily walk in Blomidon Provincial Park! Children welcome.

Citizen scientists across North America have been helping researchers learn more about Trout Lilies by observing and reporting details about anther color and count. These variations - yellow, pink, or dark red anthers - can tell us a lot about local adaptations and even help distinguish between different trout lily species. By gathering observations from many places, citizen science projects are revealing patterns in how these beautiful spring flowers vary across their range, and helping scientists understand their ecology in ways that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.

The walks are from 10:00 am to 11:30 am and from 11:30 am to 1 pm. To register for a walk, follow this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1vk93TTvzCrHxst1rWbVQXbGNs_qO7LPaY-d8t0qt0b4/edit
