Moth Light Night Walk

Recreation / Fitness Family-Friendly Outdoor

Want to explore the diversity of nocturnal insects that White Rock has to offer? Join Acadia graduate student Carys McMurray for an evening of “moth-lighting” to celebrate international Moth Week!

We will head out onto the White Rock trails just after dark with bright lights and a white sheet - all you need to observe moths and other nocturnal insects. We will learn about the different species that come to our light, discuss how to “go mothing” responsibly, and cross our fingers for a Luna moth sighting!

Bring a flashlight or a headlight if you have one.

Carys McMurray is an MSc candidate at Acadia, researching how hemlock woolly adelgid infestations and their associated chemical treatments affect insect biodiversity in hemlock forests. She is passionate about science communication and sharing her love of insects!
