Experience creativity as it happens.

Avon River UNFRAMED invites you to step behind the scenes and experience art in its most authentic form—while it is still unfolding.

For one day each summer, the beautiful grounds of the historic Mission of Avondale become an open-air studio as artists spread out across the property, creating original works inspired by the landscape, architecture, gardens and natural beauty of the Avon River.

Working in a wide variety of mediums—including painting, drawing, fibre arts, photography, printmaking, sculpture, pottery and mixed media—each artist brings a unique perspective to this remarkable place.

Unlike a traditional exhibition, UNFRAMED celebrates the creative journey rather than the finished piece.

Visitors are encouraged to wander the grounds, observe artists at work, ask questions, learn about different techniques and discover the inspiration behind each piece. Every conversation offers a glimpse into the creative process, making each visit a unique and memorable experience.

Whether you're an artist yourself, curious about how artwork comes to life, or simply looking for a wonderful day exploring one of West Hants' most picturesque historic properties, Avon River UNFRAMED offers something for everyone.

Bring your curiosity.
Take your time.
Watch creativity unfold.
You may leave inspired to create something of your own.
