Nature Talk

Monday September 21, 2026  7pm - 8:30pm (1 Hour 30 Minutes)
Lecture / Seminar

 [email protected]

Join the Blomidon Naturalists for our monthly Nature Talk. In tonight's talk, Don Stewart will review how he has used genetic tools to study a variety of rare and endangered species in Atlantic Canada, as well as in Costa Rica. In addition to a high-level discussion of how molecular genetic tools are useful in this context, he will discuss some of the interesting natural history of various mammals and mussels in these regions.

Join in person at the Wolfville Legion on Monday, September 21 at 7 pm or join by Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84409707097#success.

Don Stewart completed his undergraduate studies at Acadia in 1987 where he developed an interest in shrews. After his completion of his PhD at the University of Toronto, where he specialised in molecular systematics of shrews, he returned to Acadia University. Since then, he broadened his research to include a variety of other mammals as well as marine and freshwater mussels which he hopes to continue as a recent Professor Emeritus.
