Being one of the earliest forms of sculpture, relief carving continuously provides endless possibilities for the carver. Immersing yourself into the world of sharp blades and the smell of wood, we will give life to our chosen design. Beginning our roughing out with a little mallet work, we will then move through to the refinement stages using a variety of gouges, chisels and knives. Short demonstrations will be given for specific techniques needed for the project. By use of inquiry and observation, more instruction is given in the form of suggestions and prompts to respectfully engage the participant as an individual learner.
