An introduction to the simple yet vitally important skill of saving seeds! As we walk through the gardens we'll discuss seed saving techniques for each species, from beans and peas to corn and squash. Afterward, there will be hands on demonstrations of simple ways to thresh, clean and store seeds after harvest.
Following Owen’s demonstration we will be going indoors to the
K.C. Irving Centre Auditorium to view the film “The Seed Hunter” – a documentary of Dr. Ken Street, a real life Indiana Jones and his team of ‘gene detectives’ as they hunt for plant genes that will help our food withstand the impact of the 21st century global warming.
