This year’s exhibition will also feature two special collections within WhichCraft?:

Master Metalsmith Peter Lawrence — Spirits of Blomidon
Blomidon is a place of mystery. The highest tides in the world rise and fall here daily. The weathered shoreline and towering cliffs of basalt, concealing treasures from the earth’s beginning. Jaspers, agates, amethysts, and more. Spirits of Blomidon is a collection of treasures Peter Lawrence has, over the years, collected, carried, cut, and polished - transforming them into wearable works of art encased in precious metals. Each piece is influenced and inspired by the natural patterns, colours, and lines found within the stone, capturing both the mystery of the landscape and the beauty held within it.

Ceramicist Mary Jane Lundy — Co-existing
Mary Jane Lundy’s Co-existing is a playful and thoughtful collection exploring the interconnectedness of all living things. Birds, animals, insects, flowers and other creatures come together in whimsical ceramic narratives that speak to coexistence, renewal, community and our shared connection to the natural world.

WhichCraft? Is it art? Is it craft? We think the most interesting answer lies somewhere in between. The distinction between “Art” and “Craft” has a long and complicated history. In medieval Europe, the maker of a beautiful object was often known simply by their trade. A goldsmith, stone mason, woodworker or painter and mastery was earned through years of apprenticeship and practice. Over time, painting, sculpture and architecture came to be elevated as “Fine Art,” while many other forms of making were placed under the broader category of “Craft.” But the boundaries between the two have never been as simple as those labels suggest. With WhichCraft?, we invite you to look beyond the labels. Here, craftsmanship, material knowledge and artistic vision come together. From clay and fiber to wood, metal, paper & stone, these artists demonstrate that the act of making can be both highly skilled and deeply expressive.
