Music
542-5500
The Acadia University Chorus, directed by Michael Caines, will be presenting their annual spring concert in the Festival Theatre Building in Wolfville.
The concert will feature two choral works of vastly different periods in music history.
The Dixit Dominus, RV594 of Antonio Vivaldi features some of his most compelling choral writing.
'Sunrise Mass (2008)' is a new yet-to-be published work by Ola Gjeilo, who is quickly becoming one of the most performed choral composers of his generation. His music is fresh yet accessible and incorporates elements of Jazz, Film Music, and traditional choral styles to create a sound all his own. This performance of 'Sunrise Mass' will be the first performance in Canada.
The Acadia Chorus will be joined by the Acadia Orchestra, directed by Christoph Both, and guest musicians, many of whom are members of Symphony Nova Scotia.
The concert will also feature the talents of a number of the School of Music students majoring in Vocal Studies.
Come join us for what will be a very satisfying afternoon of choral music-making.
