Al Tuck and Erin Costelo

Music

We're mighty pleased to be presenting two accomplished Halifax musicians in one amazing show this Saturday, October 18th at 9 pm. Erin Costelo just may blow your mind. Her songwriting is a unique blend of 1930s and 40s jazz, post punk and 60’s pop. Unlike most piano playing pop musicians, Erin’s eclectic influences and rich baritone voice allow her to avoid being defined by genre. From the first ghostly notes of Erin Costelo’s debut EP, The Trouble and the Truth, the mood is set for a unique artistic experience... The seven-track collection caught the attention of CBC's engineer/producer Karl Falkenham and executive producer Glenn Meisner, who recently invited the burgeoning songstress to record a sophomore album in Studio H. Costelo’s warm and accomplished vocals blanket each track with a hushed intimacy as her lyrics deliver a hard won perspective rare this early in an artist’s career.

Of Al Tuck's 1994 CD Brave Last Days, Dirty Linen magazine said "His stripped down approach makes him sound like a funky white boy from the deep South playing slightly twisted country blues songs in an after hours juke joint session. His songs are wry and endearing and bound to attract him a cult following."
Since those days, Al has been an enduring fixture in the Halifax music scene and released his most recent recording in 2005, My Blues Away. His live show has been highly praised and we're really looking forward to seeing it for ourselves.
