In conjunction with the Canada's Culture Days, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, which is celebrating its 40th season in 2012, will host an open house of our facility and is offering a rare opportunity to see behind the scenes: Watch a rehearsal in progress for one of our flagships shows.
On Friday, September 28, from 3-5pm, the public is invited to stop in to our office and workshops on Gerrish Street for a look around, and see what goes in to making shows that are seen by more than 200,000 people around the world every year! See the facility where our puppets are imagined, designed, built, and rehearsed before going out on the road. While you're there, you'll get to drop into the theatre and watch a few minutes of rehearsals for one of our flagship shows before it heads out on across the US and Canada for a six-month tour.
At 4:00pm, open house guests and the public are invited to the Mermaid Loft for an interactive puppetry demonstration. Visitors can see how our professionals bring puppets to life, and maybe even give it a try for themselves.
