Light in the Forest Exhibition runs until December 1st.
This installation explores nostalgia and childhood memories and is comprised of large-scale paintings on silk that create an illustrated environment of storybooks where the viewer is immersed in veiled apparitions. As a child, Carr was drawn to the details that surrounded her: from wallpaper patterns, strangers, church hats, swooping ravens, and the neighbors' underwear hanging on the line. Carr uses these past experiences that bridge both fear and awe to create a complex realm of narratives from her youth that interrogates the dichotomy between myths, fears, and safe places.
